A short, growing reference of the state and federal AI statutes that are now generating litigation, along with the cases interpreting them.
Generative AI Training Data Transparency Act. Requires developers of generative AI models to publish on their websites high-level summaries of the datasets used to train each model — including data source, ownership, copyrightability, and whether personal information is included.
Federal non-consensual-intimate-imagery statute. Criminalizes publication of NCII (including AI-generated imagery) and creates platform notice-and-takedown obligations. Compliance deadline May 19, 2026.
Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security Act. Creates a standalone tort for unauthorized AI replication of voice. The first U.S. statute specifically targeting AI voice cloning.
Automated Employment Decision Tool law. Requires employers using AEDTs in NYC hiring or promotion to perform an annual bias audit and provide candidate notice.
